President Obama to Dr Professor Daniel M Deocampo: WHAT DO WE DO?!?!

That was just an attention grabbing headline because I’m excited about my brother, the science lead for H2OTECH, who is going to the White House Tuesday to advise the President on water science, tech, and business opportunities.

The actual situation has nothing to do with the sensationalist headline. It’s Obama-style cool, calm and rational.

Dear Friends of H2OTECH,

We are writing a quick note to let you know that H2OTECH has been invited to participate in the White House Water Summit on Tuesday, organized by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

As you know, H2OTECH is the EPA Water Innovation Cluster headquartered at Georgia State University in downtown Atlanta, serving the southeast states of Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina.  Our mission is to enhance technology transfer, promote water and environment business development, and accelerate deployment of new environmental bioscience technologies.  We are rapidly bringing our stakeholders together and building momentum to enhance water innovation serving an economy of 60 million people that use over 65 billion gallons of water every day, including 30,000 jobs directly linked to water.  For more information please see http://www.h2otechcluster.org.

At the White House event, we will highlight the strong water economy in the Southeast U.S. and the importance of water resources to economic growth of the region.  The event will be livestreamed at https://www.whitehouse.gov/live starting at 9:00 AM.”
